Dealing with the Foggy Windows Issue in Your Motorhome?
Windows fogged? Seal dangling? This is a problem SeGi brand windows had in
many older model motorhomes (including Country Coach brand and other highline brand motorcoaches).
Why it happens. Country Coach and other
brand highline coaches used Se-Gi windows which developed this foggy window
issue. These SE-GI windows appear
frameless in design. The assemblies were made from an interior of laminated glass
and an exterior tempered glass. The two glasses were separated by a seal around
the perimeter. The entire aluminum window frame was mounted to the coach
frame by either mechanical fastening or by both mechanical fastening and
polyurethane adhesives. This fogging of the windows happens when the seal on the double
pane fails and moisture gets between the two panes.
A repairable issue which many service centers can handle, one service center which gets
quite a few of these service projects each year is Premier RV of Oregon. Premier has a service technician on staff that is quite
adept at addressing this foggy coach windows issue.
What's the fix? Basically it involves
removing the affected windows, taking them apart, cleaning and resealing, and reinstalling
them. (Or if more feasible replacing a window.)
